Elena Massarotti is the Director of Clinical Trials of the Lupus Center at the Brigham and Womens' Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to her clinical research activities, Dr Massarotti is actively involved in the education of clinical fellows and is a general rheumatologist with special interest in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus, and vasculitis.

Dr Massarotti received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. Her internship and residency in internal medicine were completed at the Tufts-New England Medical Center, where she also completed her chief medical residency and earned her fellowship in rheumatology/immunology.

The author of numerous abstracts, journal articles, and book chapters, Dr Massarotti has twice been named a "top doctor" by Boston Magazine, and is a multiple recipient of the Tufts-New England Medical Center Oliver Smith Award for exceptional care and service to patients. Her clinical research interests include new treatments for rheumatoid arthritis and lupus; she collaborates nationally with other investigators in related studies of patients with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
