Robert Terkeltaub received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Montreal General Hospital, where he also earned a fellowship in clinical rheumatology. Subsequently, he was a Senior Research Associate in immunology at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, La Jolla, CA.

Dr Terkeltaub is on the editorial board of Arthritis and Rheumatism, and serves as an associate editor of Current Rheumatology Reports as well as a reviewer of numerous journals, including the Journal of Immunology and the Journal of Clinical Investigation. He is also the author of nearly 130 articles, books, book chapters, and abstracts. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Arthritis Society, and a recipient of the Arthritis Foundation Arthritis Investigator Award.

Dr Terkeltaub's areas of research interest include the biochemical pathways of bone and cartilage metabolism in osteoarthritis, atherosclerosis, and gout.
