Project title: Characterization of CD46 Generated T Regulatory Cells

Dr Verbsky is studying T regulatory cells, which help turn off immune responses, in the hope to better characterize them and understand how they regulate immune responses. He and colleagues at Washington University School of Medicine have recently characterized a novel mechanism of immune suppression by CD4+ T regulatory cells which involves granzyme/perforin dependent cytotoxicity. Additionally, he is studying children who develop autoimmune diseases to determine if they have a deficiency or inability to correctly produce these cells.
